Label Design and Printing Options
Nutraceutical supplement labels have a wide variety of unique needs. Label material, shape and size, finish coatings and specialty treatments can help create the one-of-a-kind label you desire. KEX provides a wide range of label materials, films and foils as well as over coat varnishes and laminates for complete label protection.
Label Printing Materials – White Label Paper
Gloss – Most often used and least expensive label material. White high gloss paper is always a good choice unless durability is a major issue. Overprint varnishes can be to defend against label scuffing. Laminates can also be used for additional gloss or if liquid may contact the label.
Matte – In some cases, you may wish to have a soft, muted, look. With Matte, the ink soaks into the material so the paper nor the ink has a high glossy appearance. A matte overprint varnish and a matte laminate are available when the label surface needs protecting.
White eco-friendly “paper” – For those that require eco-friendly labeling packaging, we offer a durabel, water-resistant, material made from stone and non-toxic polyethylene resins. It contains no trees, water, or toxic bleaching chemicals.
Protective Finishes – Varnishes
The three varnish varieties that are used are gloss, matte, and imprintable. All can be used on our digitally printed and traidtionally printed labels. The gloss varnish is by far the most popular. It provides the label with added gloss and protects the label from routine scuffing. Since our inks have glossy properties, labels and packaging that doe not rub against other containers or objects typically do not require a gloss varnish.
Matte varnishes protect packaging, but are used when customers desire the inks to appear muted, dull, or soft. For example, cosmetics and wine labels use matte varnishes.
Labels that may be written on post printing use an imprintable varnish that makes enables the label’s surface to be more receptive to ink from writing instruments. Customers must ensure the ink used for writing will adhere to the varnish.
